You know it's raining outside (according to Magical Maintenance anyway) but I still feel unbelievably cheerful. You know, I wouldn't care if that disgusting hobo whose always hanging around outside the Ministry came up and licked me today - that is how happy I feel.

Now really, with all this doom and gloom around, isn't that a marvel. Anyone in the mood for something vitalising in the Leaky Cauldron? And I really mean anyone, anyone at all. Today, everyone is agreeable.

Merlin's long-johns! Hibernicus is being absolutely impossible at the moment. He wont let anyone leave the Department without vigorous questioning about...that night. And he's had our inquiries team search every inch of the DoM with a fine toothcomb they even found my porn collec . I hope we are all absolved of responsibility as soon as may be. Our intrays are really starting to pile up with all this obstruction in the way of our good work.

 The Ministry these days, is a shadow of its former self. No one stays in the office any longer than they must. The canteen is deserted, and Minister Bagnold hasn't emerged from her office in weeks. We're dangerously understaffed, what with people dying left right and centre. Before long the Auror department is going to have to ask House Elves to man patrol routes, just so they can function. 
Plus all the coffee shops around here are closed, so you can't even get a fix of caffeine to calm the nerves.

It's hard to except that an exceptional wizard like Benjy Fenwick could possibly have been taken from us. Though he was a part of my department, I have to admit that I rarely had the oportunity to work with him. That this heinous crime could have taken place right under the nose of the Ministry, is deeply disturbing, but thankfully the Aurors have done their upmost to make all of us employees feel safe in returning to their work, on the behalf of my colleges I'd like to thank them for remaining so calm and reassuring during this trying time. I'd like to extend my condolences to Mr. Fenwick's loved ones. I sincerely hope that they have friends around them with whom they can grieve during this terrible time.

 If anyone wants me, I'm going to be hiding stuck in the DoM for a while. The most pressing of projects seem to arise at exactly the wrong moments, don't you know.

I wonder if The Quibbler makes good kindling...

This curfew is really starting to grate. My Landlady used to make cakes and take them round the tennants, but now she's too scared to leave her own door in the evenings. Damn you Ministry, those cakes were good!
